Directions
Start by preparing the charred chili layer. Begin charring the chili pepper over an open flame or on a hot skillet until the skin is blackened. Let it cool, then remove the seeds and finely chop the chili.
In a cocktail shaker, combine the charred chili, date syrup, lime juice, and ice cubes for the charred chili layer. Shake well to infuse the flavours.
Strain the mixture into a separate glass, leaving behind any chili pieces. Set the charred chili mixture aside. Rinse-out the cocktail shaker to prepare for the next layer.
In the clean cocktail shaker, combine the freshly squeezed orange juice, date powder, vanilla extract, and ice cubes for the orange layer. Shake well to combine.
Strain the orange mixture into a separate glass and set it aside. Rinse out the cocktail shaker again to prepare for the final layer.
In the clean cocktail shaker, combine the virgin tequila or gin alternative, lime juice, date powder, and ice cubes for the red layer. Shake well to combine. Strain and add in some sparkling water. Set the red layer aside.
To assemble the cocktail with different layers, start by pouring the charred chili layer into the glass.
Slowly pour the orange layer over the back of a spoon onto the chili layer. This helps create the layered effect.
Finally, pour the red layer over the back of a spoon onto the orange layer, creating the third and final layer.
Garnish the cocktail with a lime slice and a charred chili pepper (optional).
Serve immediately and enjoy your visually stunning Charred Chili and Orange Sunset Mocktail!
